2019 STOCK V8 RULES

 

MUFFLERS ARE REQUIRED

WEIGHT MUST BE POSTED ON DRIVER SIDE A-PILLAR

NO MIRRORS-NO RADIOS

 

Attention Driver - All cars and components must be stock unless otherwise stated in the rules below. If it is not mentioned or stated otherwise below, it is NOT a gray area. If it doesn’t say you can do it, DON’T do it.

 

FRAME

A.             Stock for make and model

B.             Sub frame connectors permitted. Front to back only. NO X BRACING

C.             Full driveshaft loop mandatory

D.             No 93 up chassis allowed until more research has been done.

 

ROLL CAGE

A.             All cars must have boxed roll cage with 1.5” o.d. x .095

B.             Must have 3 bars in driver’s door and 2 bars in right door

C.             Loop around engine compartment permitted

D.             Two bars may run from hallo loop to rear frame rails

 

WHEELBASE

A.             Stock for make and model

B.             .5” tolerance side to side. (exp. 101” left side 101.5 “ right side)

 

SUSPENSION

A.             Stock for make and model

B.             No jack/wedge bolts

C.             No racing shocks. Stock mount shocks only in factory mounts

D.             Racing springs permitted

E.             Adjustable spring cups allowed.

F.             Non-adjustable lowering blocks permitted on leaf spring cars

G.            Tube upper a arms ok must have stock length & mount.

 

STEERING

A.             Stock for make and model

 

BRAKES

A.             3 wheel brakes permitted

B.             Factory disc brakes on rear permitted. Steel calipers only. ADD 50lbs

C.             No adjustable proportioning valves permitted

 

WHEELS/TIRES

A.             Steel wheels only. 8” maximum width.

B.             All wheels must be same offset.

C.             1 inch wheel spacer permitted anywhere on wheels.

D.             American Racers Stock or Hard compound

E.             Oversized wheel studs and lugs permitted

F.             No chemical altering allowed

 

REAR END

A.             Stock for make and model

B.             May be locked

C.             9” Ford permitted.

D.            Spool only or welded spider gears

E.            Rear tires must track within 1in of front tires

 

BODY

A.             Factory steel body only. May be hulled. NO ALUMINUM BODYS/PANELS ALLOWED

B.             After market steel replacement parts allowed.

C.             All glass and flammable material must be removed

D.             Headlights, tail lights, and wheel covers must be removed

E.             Doors must be strapped, welded, or bolted

F.             Wheel-well openings may be cut for minimum tire clearance

G.            Must have FULL factory fire wall and floor pan from rocker to rocker and to behind driver’s seat

H.             Area between driver and fuel cell must be totally covered with sheet metal

I.               May run aluminum spoiler. 6” maximum material from top of deck to top of spoiler blade. Spoiler sides start at 2” and end at 8”. 18” maximum length. Both spoiler sides must be same size

 

BUMPERS

A.             Must be securely attached

B.             Must have lift hook for wrecker.

C.             Must NOT have any exposed sharp edges.

D.             Must be track approved

 

ENGINE

A.             362 cubic inch maximum

B.             Stock crankshaft and rods only. Balancing permitted

C.             Replacement 4 valve relief flat top pistons permitted. NO LIGHT WEIGHT PISTONS

D.             Hydraulic cam only.

E.             Cam lift .460 maximum at valve. Checked with solid lifter and 0 lash

F.             Headers permitted

G.            Must be in original location

H.             Solid engine mounts permitted

 

HEADS

A.             Any GM straight plug cast iron head allowed

B.             no vortex heads

C.             Maximum valve size is 1.94 intake, 1.50 exhaust

D.             No angle cut heads

E.             Stock valve job only

F.             No porting, polishing or matching of ports

G.            Studs may be pinned. Screw in studs allowed.

H.            1.5 roller rocker arms allowed

 

INTAKE

A.             Factory steel intake (no high-rise aluminum)

B.             Edelbrock 2101 permitted

C.             No porting, polishing or matching of ports

 

CARBURETOR

A.             Holley 1850/0-80457 permitted. 600cfm, vacuum secondary, single line, single metering block only

B.             A.F.B. carburetors permitted

C.             Choke flap may be removed

D.             Adaptor permitted

E.             Spacers are not permitted

F.             $350 claimer on any carb

 

IGNITION

A.             Factory single point or HEI only

B.             Stock cap mount coil only

C.             No ignition boosters

D.             Vacuum advance may be locked out

 

FLYWHEEL/CLUTCH

A.             Stock for make and model

B.             Stock / stock replacement only

C.             No solid hub clutch or racing clutch/pressure plate permitted

D.             Z28 flywheel permitted

 

FUEL

A.             Gas only

B.             No additives

C.             NO electric fuel pumps permitted

D.             Securely mounted fuel cell mandatory

 

RADIATOR

A.             Stock or racing aluminum permitted

B.             Must be mounted in front of engine

 

STARTER

A.             Factory or racing starter permitted

 

TRANSMISSION

A.             Stock 3,4,5 speed permitted

B.             Automatic permitted with full size working torque converter. STOCK

C.             No modifications

 

SAFETY REQUIRMENTS

A.             Approved helmet and FULL fire suit mandatory

B.             Properly mounted 3” quick release lap belt and 2” min shoulder harness

C.             Properly mounted, working fire extinguisher mounted within driver’s reach

D.             Properly mounted racing seat mandatory

E.              Full Containment seat recommended.

 

NUMBERS

A.             Must be at least 18” tall on both sides of car

B.             Must be visible and legible from scoring tower

 

WEIGHT RULE

A.             3200 lbs minimum at all times

C.             Weight you are claiming MUST be posted on drivers side A pillar or roof corner

 

PROTEST FEES

A.             One head, cam, bore, stroke, carb, lifter, intake, and distributor - $350 Track retains $100

B.             Complete engine - $500 Track retains $150

C.             Flywheel, clutch and pressure plate - $150 Track retains $50

D.             Wheelbase and engine setback - $150 Track retains $50

E.             Suspension - $150 Track retains $50

F.             Complete car - $800 Track retains $250

              

2 people from each team will be allowed in tech area. If either party misbehaves in any way during the teardown, the protest will stop and the misbehaving team will be disqualified

 

VISUAL PROTEST

A.             Must be made before event starts

B.             $25 per item

C.             Track retains 100%
